Madison-Ben Schiro, age 86, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Agrace Hospice. He was born in Madison on February 14, 1927 to the late Peter and Angeline (Renda) Schiro. He was a graduate of Central High School and joined the United States Army serving in World War II. His entire career he worked as a Plumber for the University of Wisconsin. He married Sally Christopher on April 27, 1963.
Ben enjoyed traveling, dining out, and socializing, especially with his friends at the West Towne Mall. He was an avid family man. He was always there for there for anyone who needed him.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sally; sister, Mary Schiro and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Arneson, Anna Schiro, and Kathleen Schiro; brother-in-law, Perry Christopher and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Georgia Cerniglia, Lucy Halleran and brothers, Vito, Frank, George and Dominic.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 6th at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd at noon. A visitation will take place from 10am until noon. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Ben's honor to the charity of choice.
Sally was very proud to be part of the Schiro family and is thankful for their loving support. The Schiro family would like to thank 4th floor Select Specialty Hospital and Agrace Hospice for all their support and care.
