Beatrice Kalscheur

February 9, 1920 — July 21, 2012

Waunakee - Beatrice (Bea) A. Kalscheur, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2012 at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center after a long life of purpose. Born in North Bristol in 1920 to Ole and Bertha Ulvestad, Bea grew up in a Norwegian household with her two brothers and five sisters. In 1943, she married Leo C. Kalscheur in Madison. They were married 43 years. Bea and Leo bought the family farm near Waunakee in 1946, raising four daughters there. Her spirit, energy, and optimism were shared as a wife, mother, grandmother, relative, friend, and neighbor. She helped all with friendliness, enjoyment, and humor.
Bea is survived by daughters Carol (Bill Jansen) of West Allis, Vicki (Rich Hamby) of Madison, Beth (Don) Anderson of Waunakee and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her daughter Cleone (Ken) Dixon; and her siblings. Bea's family is grateful for her long-time neighbors, the "Homemakers" ladies, and Senior Center friends who filled her days with visits, phone calls, memories, and laughter. Mother, thank you for all your love and support. Thank you for teaching us strong family values and for showing us your strength and courage to your final breath. You are our bright star. Peace has come.
