Barbara Ann Warrick

December 12, 1935 — June 29, 2025

Madison

Barbara Ann Warrick, age 89, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2025. She was born on December 12, 1935, in Pequabuck, Connecticut, the daughter of John and Rose Totels.

Barbara earned her diploma in nursing from Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut and went on to serve as head nurse at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. It was there that she met her future husband, Dr. Louis F. Warrick, who was chief resident at the time. They married in Washington D.C. on September 10th, 1960.

Barbara was beautiful, inside and out, and made everyone she met feel seen, cherished, and loved. Her heart was bigger than this world, and her family was the center of it. She was a lifelong learner and avid reader who loved staying up to date on current events. She had a passion for travel, a gift for cooking, and a generous heart that led her to volunteer at both St. Thomas Aquinas Church and her children’s schools. She also found joy in gardening, where her love for flowers and plants flourished. Barbara was an enthusiastic sports fan who cheered faithfully for Wisconsin teams, including the Badgers, Packers, Bucks, and Brewers.

Barbara adored her grandchildren. She traveled with them, visited their schools for special events, and patiently played endless games with them—always fully present and always full of love. An animal lover, she had a special place in her heart for the family pets and grandpets, whom she thoroughly enjoyed spoiling. While she had many interests, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis F. Warrick, daughter Lisa, daughter Jennifer (Alex), grandchildren Cecilia, Cate, and Clayton, and many beloved relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rose Totels, and her brother, John Paul Totels.

Visitation will be at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI on Friday, August 1st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. and a lunch at 12:00 p.m. A private interment will be held for the family on Monday, August 4th at 10:00 a.m.
