In Loving Memory
Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Viken, age 75, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 11, 2014. Barbara was born September 24, 1938 at Madison General Hospital to William and Leora (Hughes) Karow.
Bobbie graduated from Madison East High School in 1956. She attended cosmetology school, and worked, until her marriage, as a cosmetologist. On March 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to Robert A. Viken in Madison, WI. Bobbie enjoyed genealogy, and spent years researching her own family tree and helping others discover their roots, even reuniting family members. Bobbie also enjoyed history, reading, and restoring antiques.
Bobbie had a grace and beauty that was evident to all, but her inner beauty shone even more brightly to those that had the fortune to know her. Her kindness, compassion, and generous spirit will be greatly missed, but have left an indelible mark on those around her that will never be forgotten.
Bobbie is survived by a son, William Alf Viken and his wife Melissa; grandchildren Christian and Katie and great- grandchild Lily. She is also survived by a daughter Christina Marie Viken- Harvey and her husband Daniel; grandchildren Patsy, Molly, David, Jenny and Sophie. She is further survived by her sister Kathy (James) Harper and her beloved fianc� Bill Ray; also brothers-in-law Donald (Sharon) Viken and Thomas (Lynda) Viken; and her cat Bailey. She was preceded in death by an infant son, and her husband Robert; parents Wiliam and Leora ; and her husband's parents Alf and Thelma Viken.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:00am at Hope Lutheran Church, 3702 Cty Hwy AB, rural McFarland with the Reverend Chris Lee- Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of service and following the service a lunch will be served.
The family requests that memorial contributions can be made to Hope Lutheran Church.
