Day, Barbara M.
Madison: Barbara Marie Day died peacefully on September 6, 2015 at Agrace Hospice, following a brief illness. She was born January 25, 1947 in Boise, Idaho, to Robert Emmet Dunn and Margaret Davis. She will be dearly missed by her husband Richard, daughter Heather, son-in-law Michael, and her two grandsons, Ethan and Nolan.
Barbara had the gift of eternal optimism - her glass was consistently at least half-full. She found humor in the slightest things and her laughter could fill a room. She was a creative soul, and while she would never admit to it, she was a wonderful artist. Barbara experimented with many art forms, but found her greatest joy through weaving, and had a collection of looms throughout her home. Barbara's intricate weavings tell the story of who she was: complex but simple, free-spirited yet organized, elegant and beautiful. Barbara could often be spotted walking her dogs in her trademark slouchy overalls while enjoying her peaceful, wooded neighborhood, finding inspiration and gratitude in the nature around her. Barbara embraced being a red head and held fast to the belief that she was quirky and introverted.
Barbara accomplished many things throughout her life, but nothing was as important to her as being around the people and pets she loved. She enjoyed listening to her husband play the organ and having her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren living right next door. Barbara embodied her love of life and shared it with those especially close to her. She was unique in her innate ability to use humor alongside a good dose of love in any situation, no matter how difficult. She was the person anyone could turn to for advice, comfort, and support.
A private family service will be held and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Monastery of St. Gertrude's, Cottonwood, Idaho. Finally we wish to thank Meriter Hospital, particularly Dr. Paul Hick and Dr. Susan Toth, for their extraordinary care, and Agrace Hospice for the compassion and guidance. We would also like to forgive the interventional radiologists. As we move into the next stage of life, we will forever carry Barbara's love, humor, intelligence, honesty, gratitude, and strength of character. She will be dearly missed. Please share a memory.
