Madison – Audrey Esther Boushon, age 97, of McFarland, passed away peacefully on September 2nd at Oak Park Place with family at her side.
Audrey was born to Walter and Esther Yaeger and was raised near Marshfield, WI. She was a 1944 graduate of Marshfield Senior High. After high school, she left to attend a business college in Fond du Lac where she learned bookkeeping. Eventually she returned to Marshfield and in 1955 married Harold Boushon. They raised three children (Lee, Gayle, and Lyle) in a rural home with a large garden. As a result, she spent many sweaty hours canning.
She enjoyed reading (especially romance novels), sewing, crocheting, and watching sports on TV -- especially the Brewers and the Girls State High School Basketball Tournament. Audrey lived a life that showcased her concern for the well-being of others. Her tens of thousands of hand-crafted hats, quilts, and bags found their way through the non-profit RSVP to comfort and warm those in need. Always willing to fix a tear, adjust a hem, or even sew a wedding dress, she will be deeply missed. You can be certain she’s already joined the sewing circle of angels.
Audrey is survived by her children; Lee (Barbara), Gayle, and Lyle (Tina), five grandchildren; Alyssa, Connor, Katelyn, Evan, and Joshua; and great-granddaughter Rita.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, WI 53558 on Saturday September 14, 2024. Opportunity for visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and there will be a brief gathering with refreshments following the service.
