Arthur "Art" Redmond

Art (Arthur) I. Redmond, age 98, of Madison passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Madison. The son of William and Marie Redmond, he was born at home on May 28, 1925, in Whitewater, WI. He married Betty J. MacLeod on October 6, 1950, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Madison.

Art spent his childhood years growing up along the Wisconsin River. between Mazomanie and Sauk City, with his parents and three older siblings. His teen years were spent in the west Madison area where he would meet his high school sweetheart, Betty, who would later become his wife. He joined the Navy in 1943 and trained in California, stationed in San Diego. Discharged in 1946, he returned to Middleton to start a family. He became involved in the Madison automotive business starting with the Packard dealership. He then worked for Kayser Ford and finished his career with Zimbrick, from which he retired. In retirement he and Betty moved to the Cross Plains area where they both enjoyed gardening and where Art could have a shop to ‘build his projects.’ He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and fixing anything that had a motor.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, son, Doug, grandchildren Caitlin (Chad) Drier and Christian, and great-great-children Easton Drier and Granger Drier.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Donna, and his brother and two sisters.

The family will be having a private service.
