Arnold Sweno

Arnold "Arnie" T. Sweno, 84, of Waunakee WI, passed away peacefully after losing a short battle with cancer on Thursday December 7, 2017 at the Fitchburg Hospice Center, surrounded by his family.

Arnie was born and grew up on the Sweno farm just outside of Whitewater WI. Arnie is a veteran of Korean War and worked for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture for 44 years.

Arnie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Sweno (Lichthardt), three sons; Dennis his wife Jackie, three grandchildren Jessica and Peter Nash, Josh, fiancé Amanda and Kimberly, Rich, one grandchild Mike, one great grandchild Connor, DuWayne his wife Ronda, two grandchildren Lauren and Lucas Plant and Kaitlyn, fiancé Ben.

Arnie, a father, husband, lifelong friend, mentor, man of his word, and a man you couldn't forget after meeting him. His fun loving friendly personality was admirable. He wasn't afraid of hard work and took pride in his work. As much as he enjoyed working with animals with the Wis. Department of Agriculture he also enjoyed carpentry and painting. When Arnie wasn't working he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, during the warm sunny season, playing golf, during the cold season, bowling with the guys at Waun-A-Bowl and in his younger years playing baseball. Arnie lived his life with integrity, honesty and most important the golden rule. His hobbies were gardening and caring for his yard.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM, Thursday December 14, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waunakee WI. On Friday December 15, 2017 a visitation will also be held one hour immediately preceding an 11 AM service to celebrate Arnie's life. The burial will immediately follow at Vienna Cemetery Waunakee WI. After returning from the cemetery a light Lunch will be served at the First Presbyterian Church.
