Arlene Joyce Fiess

Arlene J. Fiess, age 85, found eternal peace on Friday, August 8, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1940 near Westfield, WI to Otto and Ethel (Johnson) Brakebush. She was a 1958 graduate of Westfield High School and went on to graduate with her beautician’s license a year later. She married David R. Fiess on September 8, 1962.

Arlene was known for her unending warmth and kindness. She was devoted to her family, and she lived her life to the flourishing of her children and grandchildren. Arlene loved hosting family events often baking and decorating personalized birthday cakes. She also volunteered at Windsor Elementary school, and at times, worked in the school office.

She was also very strong in faith and was a dedicated parishioner of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. Arlene was very musically inclined and also played the organ, piano, and accordion.

Arlene is survived by her husband David; children Jeffrey (Heather), Kevin (Amy), and Karina (Scott) Mowbray; grandchildren Stephanie (Steven) Stencil, Jennalee (Matthew) Collins, and Joshua Fiess; Seth and Jordyn Fiess; and Kennedy and Kendall Mowbray; and great-grandchildren Shawn, Spencer, and Sabrina Stencil; and Landon and Liliya Collins. She is further survived by her brother Carl (Judith) Brakebush, and many other relatives and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter Kristin Kovac and her parents Otto and Ethel Brakebush.

Visitation will be 10-12:00 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 300 Broadway Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590, with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 pm (noon). Friends and family will gather at 4:00 pm at Westfield East Cemetery in Westfield, WI to bring Arlene to her final place of rest.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
