Madison - Arlene Duren, age 85, went home to the Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2017. She was born on March 9, 1932, daughter of Paul and Katherine (Peters) Haas in Plain, Wisconsin.
Arlene worked for 18 years at River Valley Schools as a Librarian Assistant. She also worked for 20 years in Madison for Insurance Companies. She enjoyed walking, crocheting, knitting, gardening, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
She is survived by her 4 children, Gary (Nancy) Duren, Terri (Mike) Keane, Maureen (Mike) Jajtner and Cindy (Kerry) Schiess; and her 13 grandchildren: Stacy and Michelle Duren; Brian, Colin, and Darren Keane; Eric, Katie, Adam and Erin Jajtner; and Kelly, Shannon, Jody and Anna Schiess. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Keira and William Jajtner, daughter and son of Eric and Ashley Jajtner, and Ryder Keane, son of Colin Keane; brother, Lawrence (Pat) Haas; brother-in-law, Richard Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Katherine Haas; sisters, Marie (Fred) Meudt, Katherine Lawrence, Elizabeth (LeRoy) Holzwarth, Angeline (William) Shemak; and brother, Paul (Helene) Haas; and grandson, Kevin Keane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison with Fr. Bart Timmerman officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens.
