Anne Vandenburgh was born in Sioux City, IA, on Sept. 7, 1948, the fourth child of Edward Clinton Vandenburgh III and Mary Margaret Chandler. She earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Iowa in 1971 and an M.A. in library science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985.
Anne was a librarian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for more than 30 years. She spent 4 years at Steenbock (Agriculture) Library, 7 years at Memorial (Humanities) Library. Then, she worked 2 years at the Medical Library and 18 years at Wendt (Engineering) Library. She loved the intellectual challenge that the engineers gave her.
She was passionate about everything she did, including genealogy and needlepoint. After she retired, Anne wrote books on history including a book on Charles Lindbergh's days as a student at the University of Wisconsin entitled Lindbergh's Badger Days.
She is survived by her sisters Jean Vandenburgh Tufty and Lael Vandenburgh and her brothers Edward Clinton Vandenburgh IV and Derek Vandenburgh. She was preceded in death by her sister Lynn Vandenburgh.
Anne will be buried with her Vandenburgh ancestors in Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, IL.
