MIDDLETON-Anne H. Schaefer, age 87, passed away the morning of Friday, May 19, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
Anne loved life. Her greatest Joy was her family. She cherished her time with all of them; the celebrations, the conversations, the laughter and the quiet times. She loved them all. Anne created a unique bond with each of her family that will remain unbroken. Her wisdom and her wit will be remembered. Anne treasured her friends, too, and enjoyed the happy times they shared.

Anne was born on July 1, 1929 in Garden City, New York to Charlotte C. and Gerard H. Hughes. Anne attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts where she earned membership in Phi Beta Kappa. She then earned a Master's degree from Yale University where she met Stu. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Anne is survived by her husband, Stu; daughters, Kate Rey of Scio, OR and Sally Klagos; son-in-law, Kent Klagos; grandchildren, Jodi, Tim, Jami and Danny Klagos, Cody and Sam Rey; and great- granddaughter, Hailie Rey. Also, sisters, Jean (Robert) Terhune and Marion Steele; and brother, Tom (Kathy) Hughes; and many other relatives.

A celebration of Anne's life will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 7337 Hubbard Ave, Middleton, WI. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare.
