Anna Mary Dusick, MD
Neurodevelopmentalist and Researcher

Madison/Indianapolis: Anna Dusick M.D. most recently served as Professor of Pediatrics within the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where she served as Division Chief for Neurodevelopmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. She held medical practice and was the Medical Director for the Waisman Center Clinical Program Services at the University of Wisconsin. She was in the process of actively growing the clinical services program at the Waisman Center, including establishing the Down Syndrome and Newborn Follow-up Clinics, while continuing her work with the National Institute of Child and Human Development (NICHD) Neonatal Research Network.

Prior to this, 1992-2010, Anna served at Riley Hospital for Children as an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Section of Developmental Pediatrics, Indiana University School of Medicine. She was the Director of the Newborn Follow up Program as well as a Primary and Co-Investigator for National Institute of Child and Human Development Neonatal Research Network.

The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Neonatal division oversees multi-center clinical trials and observational studies that are developed to help reduce infant morbidity and mortality and promote healthy outcomes. Anna dedicated her professional life to this goal. She was a passionate physician who would work endless hours to meet the needs of the children and families she served.

Her legacy is vast. She has been the recipient of Medical and Community Awards and Honors recognizing her work and impact on Infant and Children's Health. Anna was forever teaching and imparting her passion and knowledge on to all disciplines of the health care team. Her work will live on from the lives she has touched and from lessons learned under her tutelage.

Along with her dedication to work, Anna was devoted to her family and friends. As follower of the Arts and literary works, Anna enjoyed a good book, dinner and a play, or just having time to be around those she loved.

Anna was married to Jerry Kalyniuk and leaves a son Alex Kalyniuk, and daughter Sarah Kalyniuk. She is also survived by her father, Roy E. Dusick DDS, mother, Mary Lee Dusick, brothers: David Dusick, Joe Dusick, Peter Dusick and Tom Dusick. Anna was extremely devoted to her immediate and extended family. Her family's recent move to Wisconsin brought them closer to her home town of Milwaukee where her parents still reside.

Anna passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle with leukemia at 57 years old.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Anna will be held at Mary, Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, and 2322 S. 106th St. West Allis, Wisconsin 53227 at 3pm on Friday July 27th, 2012 starting with visitation at the church from 1-3 pm.
