Anita Jane Reaman Landry passed away on May 3, 2026 at age 96 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. She was born to Ione and Ernest Reaman in Grant Park , IL and spent her childhood on a small farm in Kankakee County, Illinois. Anita attended Illinois State (Normal) University on a 4-H scholarship, majoring in Home Economics. After earning her B.S. degree she taught high school home economics for eight years. Anita was an excellent seamstress. In her prime, she could construct or alter most any garment. While teaching and raising a family, she still was able to complete work for a Master’s Degree in Guidance from Ball State University in 1965. She spent the rest of her career as a high school counselor in South Bend, Indiana. Anita will be remembered as the sponsor of Suicide Prevention and Drug Awareness programs. Her kindness and caring will not be forgotten. Her favorite motto was “Dare to Care.”
Surviving is her husband of 74 years, Virgil Landry. Also her son Dr. Greg (Ann) Landry of Middleton, WI. Grandchildren Kerry (Dave) Landry of Richmond, CA, Dr. Megan (Sean) Stalpes of Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Anna (Jazzmine) Landry of Madison, WI and Ryan Landry of Fitchburg, WI. Great grandchildren Sadie Stalpes and Emmie Stalpes of Minnepolis, MN. Also several nieces and nephews.
Pre-deceased was a son Roger Landry and brother Myron Reaman. As she requested, her body will be donated to science, care of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Agrace HospiceCare would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10 from 10:am to 12 noon at Cress Funeral Service 6021 University Ave. Madison, WI. There will be a luncheon to follow at 12 noon.
