Andrew Martin Foss

Andrew Martin Foss (45), born May 22, 1980, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Jessica, on September 2, 2025, in Madison Wisconsin after a long battle with chronic illness.

Andy is survived by his wife, Jessica, his sons, Alexander (16) and Tobias (12), his parents, Richard and Nancy Foss of St. Paul, MN, his siblings, Susan Foss of Fargo, ND, Naomi Foss Welsh of Grand Forks, ND, Elizabeth Foss of Rochester, NY, and Peter Foss (wife Olivia) of Rochester MN, as well as his nieces and nephew, many cousins, aunts and uncles, and their cherished family pet, Princess Puddin' Pants.

Andy was preceded in death by an infant son (Teddy), a brother (John), an uncle (Gary Pasek) of Jordan MN, and all four of his grandparents, Harlen and Beatrice Foss of Northfield MN and Elizabeth and Wilfred Martin of Cincinnati, OH.

Andy was born in Seattle, WA, the youngest of 6 children. In 1986, the family relocated to Moorhead MN, where he made many friends. After high school he enrolled in Moorhead State University, however, found that he preferred the world of work and chose to continue his education through reading, travel, conversation and MPR.

Andy began his work life in the food service industry at an Erbert's and Gerbert's shop in Fargo, ND. In 2004, he moved to Madison, WI, where he continued to live until his passing.

While living in Madison, Andy enjoyed working at Blue Plate Catering, the deli at PDQ, and Dahmen's at Hawk's Landing, where he loved cooking and gained great joy from creating new recipes.

On July 18, 2019, Andy was married to his partner, Jessica Rust, in an intimate ceremony on Twin Valley Lake in Governor Dodge State Park.

Andy will be greatly missed for his creativity, kindness, sense of humor and intelligence, but most of all for his ability to make a friend and leave a memory anywhere.

Much gratitude to Andy's friends who visited him during his last months.

There will be a celebration of life on October 24, 2025 from 11:30am until 3:30pm at Cress Funeral Services at 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705.

*Casual dress and colors are encouraged.

A small gathering will take place with refreshments at Andrew and Jessica's home in Fitchburg WI later in the evening.
