Andrea "Andie" Alice Kruk

May 30, 1945 — October 27, 2025

Madison

Andrea “Andie” Alice Kruk (née Drea), 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, October 27, 2025, following a five-year battle with dementia. Andie was born on May 30, 1945 in Richland Center, Wisconsin. She attended Reedsburg High School and loved being a member of the marching band. Music was a special passion for her. After matriculating from Reedsburg High School, she went on to college to study education with the goal of being a teacher. After graduation, this independent and adventurous spirit moved to Boulder, Colorado. During her nearly 20 years in Colorado, Andrea had a daughter and many professional lives including small business owner, teacher, and office manager for an oil and gas company. As a single woman, she purchased her own home in the late 1970’s and owned a successful daycare center. Throughout her life, Andrea marched to the beat of her own drum and always found a way to move forward. She had an indomitable spirit.

In 1985, Andrea returned to Wisconsin and settled in Madison. This is where she met the love of her life, Roger Kruk. They married on Christmas Eve, 1986, and honeymooned in Door County. Andrea and Roger built a happy life together that included Roger’s daughters: Sarah Elswick-Hustad (née Kruk), Ruany Kruk, Lisa Ramirez; and Andrea’s daughter, Michelle Drea. Andrea pursued a teaching career in Madison. She taught third and fourth grades at Abundant Life Christian School where her faith and love of children were her focus.

Door County held a special place in her heart. She and Roger would take the grandchildren on tent camping trips to Peninsula State Park each year over the 4th of July holiday. This continued into her 70th decade. Andrea was not one to allow a little thing like age slow her down. In addition to camping, she enjoyed rides on her bike, arts and crafts, gardening, golfing, cooking, playing games, and hanging out with her children and grandchildren.

Andrea is survived by her husband, Roger Kruk; three children, Michelle Drea (Matt Fish), Sarah Elswick-Hustad (Todd Hustad), and Lisa Ramirez; five grandchildren, Lita Elswick, Cole Drea, Chase Fritz, Arielle Letherwood-Fritz, and Isaiah Raine; one brother, Harold Drea Jr.; one sister-in-law, Sally Drea; one sister, Sr. Jeanne Drea; two nieces, Kate Prothero (Kevin) and Molly Lightfoot (Brennan); one grandniece, Vayda Lightfoot; and two grandnephews, Oliver Boyes and Tripp Lightfoot. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Harold Drea, and daughter, Ruany Kruk.

Andrea leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love for her family. She will be missed.

A private ceremony will be held at Cress Funeral Home with a celebration of life at a later date. Burial will be at Natural Path Sanctuary in Verona. The family would like to especially thank Agrace staff for all of their support and kindness throughout this journey.
