Amy Ranzen

August 30, 1988 — August 11, 2013

MADISON - On August 11th, 2013, Amy Katherine Ranzen, age 24, lost her battle with the devastating disease of depression. A consistent passion of Amy's was sport, particularly golf and softball. Amy's engagement and ultimate success in these sports was epitomized by her pursuit of the perfect pitch or the optimal flight of each ball. She sought knowledge in all forms, ranging from the depth of complicated and magical literature to the pleasure of a podcast on public radio. One of the best mediums for Amy's experiences and thought were through her superb gifts as a writer. Amy's sense of style and twinkling blue eyes along with her raven hair turned many a head wherever she went. One of her most recent endeavors was into the realm of childcare, an experience that provided great enjoyment for herself as well as those under her watch. Amy found great relief in the practice of yoga and the positive gifts of reflection and relaxation that it can provide.
Amy was a quiet and reflective person. She was at peace in nature. She was the best friend to Willow her yellow lab. Her kindness and love for her family was an enduring quality that made her the special person she was.
Amy is survived by the love and remembrance of her parents, Sven Eric (Butch) and Jeanine (nee Gleason) Ranzen; sisters Kelly of Milwaukee, and Brenna of Arlington, VA, Helen Mae Gleason of Chicago; and a multitude of endeared aunts, uncles and cousins.
"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be at your back. May the sun shine warmly on your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hands."
Namaste.
