Sauk City/Lodi/Waunakee -Amelia "Mollie" Ryan, age 98, died on Thurs., July 12, 2012 at Maplewood Health Care in Sauk City. She was born in Dane, Wisconsin on Dec. 4, 1913 to William and Elizabeth (Hauser) Kurt. Mollie married Lawrence Ryan on Oct. 16, 1937 and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1977. She was a longtime resident of rural Lodi and more recently of Sauk City. In her early years she received a teaching degree and taught school in a one room school house. Through the years Mollie had many interests including: playing the organ, Columbia County Homemakers, 4-H leader, quilting, crocheting, embroidery and writing letters. She also volunteered at the polls during elections at West Point Township. She was also very proud of becoming a 10 gallon donor to the Red Cross. She was a longtime member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City.
Survivors include her children; Maury (Sandy) Ryan of Parker Colorado, Marilyn (Jack) Meffert of Waunakee, Pat (Gary) King of Janesville, and Paul (Debbie) Ryan of Parker, Colorado; Seven grandchildren; Curt, Kelly, Jean, Jeff, Sue, Emily, and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Luke; one sister Marcie Benesh of Lodi; sister-in-law Blanche Casavant of Florida and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence and a sister Betty Wipperfurth.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs., July 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church,209 South St., Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church, on Thurs. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sauk City at 2:30 p.m.
