Amber Bast

MADISON - Amber R. Bast, age 34, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017. She was born in 1983 to a military mother. Amber's life was filled with struggles starting from birth. She was born with Gastroschisis and Omphalocele, which are major birth defects. Despite the birth defects, she beat all of the odds and become a mother. Unfortunately, her struggles were not quite over. Although raised without a father, Amber longed for that missing puzzle piece. We were all born with free will and hers was the love of alcohol.

After many years of losing to the bottle, she failed to look after herself. Malnutrition and a diseased liver led to the failure of Amber's body. Her body could not take the free will or living without care any longer. Amber started her life out in the NICU, so it was only fitting that she ended her life in the ICU. But that wasn't her will either; she was sent to Agrace Hospice where she took her last breath among her mother Margaret Bast and two aunts; Cathi Ferry and Dorothy Lee.

Amber is survived by her mother Margaret Bast; sister Rebecca (Rich) Kissel; daughters Victoria (Yumi) and Aaliyah; her "Special Auntie" Alberta Bast; her true love Larry Herbanello; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless number of friends. We would like to thank the nurses at St. Mary's Hospital for their years of dedicated service to Amber and to Agrace Hospice for a peaceful ending.

Committal Services will be held at RESURRECTION CEMETERY 2705 Regent St, Madison, WI 53705 on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 am with Father Michael Radowicz presiding.
