MADISON-Amanda Sue Puntney, 36, died after a short illness on March 25, 2017, in Madison. Amanda was born Oct. 23, 1980, in Arkansas City, Kansas and had lived in Madison since 2001. She attended Manhattan (Kansas) High School, graduated with honors from Harper College, Chicago, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a bachelor's degree in Geography. Amanda was the manager of 4&20 Bakery and Café, 305 N. 4th Street in Madison and was known for her homemade pop tarts and M'oreo cookies.
An avid bicyclist and gardener, she loved the outdoors and nature photography. She also loved to travel. Through the bakery and café, she supported a number of charitable organizations with donations of food to a variety of activities. She adopted dogs and a cat from the Dane County Humane Society and baked special dog treats for canine visitors to the 4&20 Bakery and Cafe.
Family and friends were at the center of her life.
She is survived by her parents, Martin and Linda Puntney of Manhattan, Kansas; a brother, Todd Puntney and his wife, Suzanne; three nieces whom she adored; an aunt and uncle, Betty and Steven Lenhert of Parkville, Missouri; and five cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Larry and Grace Puntney; and her maternal grandparents, Earl and Frances Lenhert.
A celebration of life will be at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Rd., Madison, WI 53718.
