Alvin O. Stockstad, age 88, passed away at home on Monday, September 13, 2010.   He was born in Stoughton on April 19, 1922, a son of J. They built and sold tobacco axes and spears as well, and Alvin continued with this until just three years ago.   In later years, Alvin enjoyed traveling to Disney World, Branson, Nashville and St. Louis with the Lacy family, riding a roller coaster at age 72.   He enjoyed sports, following the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Stoughton High School sports.   He became a member of the S' Club in 1976. He is survived by his daughter, Darlene; sister-in-law, Geraldine (Marvin) Berg of Mineral Point; 7 nieces and nephews, and their families; and three first cousins.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Verna in 1982; brothers-in-law, Alvin Berg, Marvin Berg and Stanley Roneid; sisters-in-law Anna (Berg) Roneid, Nora ( Alvin) Berg and Vera ( Alvin) Berg; and a cousin, Donald Stockstad. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at noon at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington St. Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating.   Following a luncheon at church, burial will take place at East Koshkonong Cemetery in Cambridge.   The family will greet friends at church on Thursday from 10:30 am until the time of service.   Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to First Lutheran Church.   Special thanks to HospiceCare, especially to Jeri and Angie.
