Alvin O. Kaupanger, age 89, passed away on Thursday August 21, 2014 at his home. He was born on March 15, 1925 in Stoughton, WI, the son of Alvin and Ida (Quale) Kaupanger. He married Ruth Johnson on December 16, 1944 in Stoughton.
Alvin was a lifetime Stoughton resident, where he farmed at the family farm until 1968. He managed FS Stoughton Service Center until his retirement. Alvin is a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, refinishing furniture, vegetable gardening, and watching sports. He also enjoyed canning his tomatoes, making lefse, and baking.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Judi (Jim) Kanvik; grandchildren Holly Kanvik, Erik (Michelle) Kanvik, Dhagny Kaupanger, and Heidi (Joel) Woodward; great-grandchildren Anthony, Sierra, Ava, Lilly, Kayle, Hoyt, Landen, Gaige, and Theron.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, son Alan, brother Oliver, sisters Alice, Florence, Virginia, and Iona.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B, Stoughton, with Rev. Scott Geister-Jones presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Services on Tuesday. Everyone is invited to a luncheon immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made out to Christ Lutheran Church or a donation to an organization of your choice.
