Alta W. Jungbluth

October 27, 1930 – April 4, 2025

Alta W. (Morrison) Jungbluth age 94, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 27, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma,

Alta spent her early years in Tulsa, and later lived in Austin, Texas, before settling in Wisconsin, where her life truly blossomed. After meeting her beloved husband, Joseph B. Jungbluth, the two embarked on a lifelong adventure together, purchasing a small home on over 100 acres near Stoughton, in the Town of Dunkirk, in 1962. There, they built not just a farm, but a home that would become the heart of a large and loving family.

Together, Alta and Joseph farmed the land—growing crops and raising cows, goats, chickens, the occasional goose, and even a pig named Tula. Alta, ever industrious, prepared countless breakfasts and lunches for workers during the busy tobacco season, while also selling McNess to neighboring farms and Avon to her many lady friends. She was known as a tough cookie—honest, determined, and strong-willed—but you always knew exactly where you stood with her. Her strength was a comfort, and her straightforward nature was just one of the many ways she showed her love. Alta also worked at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Madison, WI where she made a handful of very close friends and retired after 15 years of service.

The farm, as it became affectionately known, was more than a home—it was a haven. A place where no appointment was ever needed, and anyone who stopped by might find themselves pulling tobacco plants, helping in the kitchen, or sitting down for a hearty meal and a lively card game. Alta was a card shark in every sense of the word—fierce in gin, rummy, and euchre—and it was nearly impossible to beat her. Win or lose, you were sure to laugh.

Alta’s home was a place where generations learned the value of a strong work ethic and the joy of shared labor and love. Whether it was pony rides, collecting eggs, or getting a lift in the tractor bucket, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grew up with dirt under their nails and smiles on their faces. Many of them learned to cook at her side, pick asparagus, grow pumpkins, and even paint under her watchful eye.

Though there was always work to be done, Alta made sure there was always room for fun. Her home was filled with warmth, good food, and unshakable honesty. She didn’t sugarcoat things—she didn’t need to. Her love was clear in her actions, her hard work, and the legacy she leaves behind.

Alta’s life was built on grit, generosity, and devotion. The farm she nurtured and the family she raised are testaments to the life she lived. She was, and always will be, the heart of a home that remains a consistent and dependable sanctuary for all who had the good fortune to be a part of it.
