Allan Scidmore

Madison - Allan K. Scidmore, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Attic Angel Place. He was born on March 11, 1927 in North Dakota.

Allan received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of North Dakota, and went on to receive a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Allan received his Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in Electrical Engineering. He was enlisted with the U.S. Army for two years. On August 20, 1953, Allan was united in marriage to Barbara Pomeroy. Allan was a professor of Electrical Engineering at UW-Madison for 57 years, where he received outstanding teaching awards. Allan was a member of Madison Area Radio Control Society. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed flying model airplanes and bowling on a league.

Allan is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; his four children, Keith (Carrie), David (Brenda), Robert (Ann), and Virginia (Tim) Gillham; his grandchildren, Evelyn, David, Kenneth (Emily), and Jennifer Scidmore; and his great-grandchild, Theodore Scidmore. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison with Rev. Nic Gibson from High Point Church presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
