Alice Kay (Joy) Findler, age 74, beloved companion, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully on November 3, 2015 from complications of small cell lung cancer.
Born March 12, 1941 in Menominee, Michigan, Alice enjoyed her time growing up in Marinette, Wisconsin where she developed many lifelong friendships that she continued to nurture until her passing. She graduated from UW-Madison, where she not only earned a degree in English, but met her husband, Harry, with whom she spent 47 years together as a spouse, parent, business partner, and best friend. They were blessed to enjoy each other and found that the best part of their life together was just that, when they were together, no matter what they were doing. They developed many friends in Wisconsin, through years of snowmobiling, tennis and golf friends whom she cherished. Alice also developed beautiful friendships through her time in Arizona in the weaving and basket rooms and later, the wood shop. These friendships were what brought her comfort and joy and a sense of peace. Peace was also found from her church families, both at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church in Wisconsin and Lakeview United Methodist Church in Sun City, Arizona.
Alice's family was always the most important part of her life. Her parents, Kenneth and Elinor Joy, raised a strong and caring woman, who valued relationships and time with those she loved. Allen (Phyllis) Joy and Donna (Robert) Bandt, her siblings, were among her very best friends and two of the most important people in her life. Without them, she would have been lost. Their families were Alice's family and she loved each of her nieces and nephews and their children. Alice and Harry had two children who shared the importance of family and love. Leslie Jo (Mark) Ealy, have three children; Megan, Kenneth and Sydney, of Chandler, AZ. Susan Joy BIshop has two children; Abby and Jordan, of Cottage Grove, WI. Alice's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy; and with whom she spent as much time as possible. Her heart was full from these relationships. Donald Guetz brought Alice much comfort, encouragement and love as their relationship developed following Harry's passing on November 20, 2010, and with this, Alice's family grew with his children and grandchildren entering her expanding circle of family.
