Alice Beasley

September 7, 1923 — January 8, 2014

Alice M. Beasley was born September 7, 1923 to Harry and Lucille (DeVoll) Armstrong in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She was the eldest of four children. After their mothers death they went to live with an aunt and uncle. When her father remarried they moved to Beloit, Wisconsin. On February 9, 1944 she gave birth to her daughter Gail. In 1946 she met and married Vincent B. Beasley. During World War II she was a milk maid at Kronshage Hall. She worked at Seals and Son Radio and TV and at Millers and Loraine Hotel. In 1965 she started working in the food service department at Mendota Mental Health. In 1985 she retired from Mendota Mental Health. She worked part-time at Burger King. During her free time she visited with her sister Doris (Howard) Hollenbeck and brother Harold (Ada/Barb) Armstrong. She also loved to crochet, knit, sew, quilt, and even learned how to make caning for a rocking chair. Occasionally she would visit her sister Shirley (Bill) Phette's place. When Bill was stationed in Frankfurt West Germany she went to visit them there. When her nephew was stationed in England she went with Doris to visit him and his family.
She is survived by her three grandchildren: Ruth (Tracy) Thorison of Madison, Wisconsin, Vincent Beasley of Florida, and George Beasley of Madison, Wisconsin. A Memorial Service will be held September 6, 2014. The location will be announced at a later date. We would like to thank the doctors at UW Hospital and Dr. Giesen at UW Health. We would also like to thank Agrace Hospice for all of the help and support they have given us. Memorial donations should be made to Agrace Hospice Care in her name.
