Albertina Renlund

July 14, 1919 — October 18, 2012

MADISON - Albertina (Tina) A. Renlund, age 93, passed away unexpectedly on October 18th, 2012, while at home with her family. She was born on July 14th, 1919, in Ellis, KS, daughter of Herman and Emma (Goodchuck) Erbert. Tina grew up on a ranch with nine brothers and sisters, attending business college in Liberal, KS after high school. After working for a major airline in Wichita, she joined the WAC's and headed off to Washington D.C. where she was secretary to a U.S. Army general. It was while stationed in Daytona Beach, FL, that she met her future husband Don, who was in the U.S Navy. They were united in marriage on September 6, 1943 in Waukegan, IL. After WWII she followed Don as he pursued his studies in Duluth, LIncoln and Madison where they settled after he obtained his degrees. While raising three children she also worked for the State Department of Transportation. She enjoyed traveling with the family, bowling, dancing and gardening in addition to giving over 10,000 hours as a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital. Tina was also a good cook and will be remembered for her "blue ribbon" pies and kindness to others. She is survived by daughters Susan (Richard) Simonson, Mary (Greg) Wallace, son Mark, grandson Spencer Wallace, sister Barbara(Gilbert) Sanchez and brother John(Maxine) Erbert. Tina was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, sisters Marilyn, Mary Lou, Mildred and Thelma along with brothers Herman and Francis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 25th, 2012, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr., Madison, with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. Msgr. Donn Heiar will celebrate, with burial to be determined at a later date. Memorials may be made in Tina's name to: St. Mary's Foundation, 700 South Park St, Madison, WI 53715
