Agnes Laufenberg, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 1, 2026 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. Agnes was born Nov. 24, 1931 in Richwood, Wi. To Joseph A. and Mary (Ready) Bowman. She graduated from Watertown High.
On August 29, 1959, she married Leonard J. Laufenberg at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richwood Wisconsin. They enjoyed playing cards, bowling and going to casinos over the years. They raised their family on the Laufenberg family farm in Martinsville, Wi. There Agnes enjoyed tending her large vegetable and flower garden and canning and sharing the produce with family and friends. She and Leonard liked to travel, especially in later years, visiting family in places like California, South Carolina and Florida. They also took a dream trip to Europe and traveled out West and to New York. Agnes was an avid reader, loved playing cards at the Waunakee Senior Center and her faith and family were most important to her.
Agnes is survived by her children JoAnn (Joel) Marshall, Robert (Maureen) Weber, Susan (Mark) Barry, Michelle (Richard) McKellar and Daniel (Dawn Anderson) Laufenberg; grandchildren Paul (Elizabeth) Schluter, David (Holly Anderson) Klamer, Amy (Andrew) Hogg, Dustin Weber, Kristine (Tammy) Kernz, Rachel Hansen- Miller, Kara Hansen- Wipperfurth and Charlie McKellar; greatgrandchildren David D. Klamer, Brayden Klamer, Ethan Schluter, Elijah Schluter and Elliott Schluter and daughter in-in-laws Gayla Hansen- Weber and Kathleen Laufenberg and many nieces, nephews and friends. Agnes will be missed by many.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, her parents, siblings, Mary (Lee) Quinn of Watertown, Beatrice (John) Kennedy of Charleston, SC and Joseph (Cathy) Bowman of Orosi, CA., sons James Weber, Charles Laufenberg, and in-laws Robert (Ramona) Laufenberg, Wilfred (Carmen) Laufenberg, Rita (Al) Amdahl, Genevieve (Conrad) Markley, Loretta (Idore) Nordness, Valerie (Leo) Krantz.
Many thanks to the group of ladies that came to her home once a month to play cards and to the people she loved to play cards with at the Senior Center and to her caring and accommodating Landlady and friend Marilyn Hurley. Thanks to all friends and family who visited her in her last couple months at the Waunakee Valley Nursing Home. Those visits brought her great joy.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, 5959 St. Martin Circle, Cross Plains on Wed. April 8. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. with the funeral mass following. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
