Adeline E. McFarlane, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Sun Prairie. She was born September 23, 1918 in Iowa, daughter to William and Laura (Hinsler) Schlitter. Adeline was united in marriage to Robert C. McFarlane on February 28, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. Adeline and her family moved to Alaska in 1943 and lived there until 1954 when they returned to the Madison area.

Adeline graduated from beauty school and worked at various salons before opening Park Lane Beauty salon, which she owned and operated on Park Street. Adeline enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Adeline is survived by her children Randy (Ellen) McFarlane, Allen "Pete" (Jean) McFarlane, Vickie (Bob) Weisensel and Steven (Sharon) McFarlane; grandchildren Bradley, Ryan, Brooke, Marnie, Brittaney, Jarcari, Kyle, and Cory; and (9) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and son Gary, three sisters Verna, Florence, Alice and five brothers Howard, Dayton, Harvey, Alfred and Robert.

The funeral service for Adeline will be held 11:00am, Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace in Sun Prairie, visitation will be held from 10:00am until time of service at the funeral home. There will be a lunch and celebration of Adeline's life after the service. Burial service will be 11:00am Monday February 23 in Arlington, IA. A luncheon will follow the burial service at Luigi's Restaurant in Oelwein.
