Adam D. Meece

Adam D. Meece, 48, of Waunakee, Wisconsin, passed away on June 12, 2026, at his home. Adam was born on May 24, 1978, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Debra Sheskey and Calvin Meece.

Adam earned his associate’s degree from Glenville State University and worked for many years in the family business, Lake City Glass. He was known for his hardworking nature, generous heart, and love for spending time with family and friends.

One of Adam’s greatest passions was fishing, a love he happily passed on to his children. Some of the fondest memories shared by his nieces and nephews were fishing trips with “Uncle Adam.” As one of the favorite parents in the neighborhood, local kids always knew they could count on him for a popsicle or a walk to PDQ for a special treat.

Adam loved good food and was always willing to try something new. He enjoyed shopping and never passed up the opportunity to browse for something interesting. His favorite thing to shop for was shoes, as evidenced by his impressive collection of Nike Air Max sneakers.

Adam is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Jami Lee; his sons, Adam Meece-Heiden, Austin Lee, Ashton Meece, and Addison Meece; his step-father, Mark (Sherry) Sheskey; his brother, Calvin (Dianne) Meece; his niece, Caley; his nephew, Gavin; and many cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Sheskey; his daughter, Alyssa Fields, his son Matthew Fields; his aunt, Kathy Leffingwell; his uncles, William Haak and Jeff Haak; and his cousins, April Walker and Lori Haak.

Adam struggled with addiction and mental health issues for many years. He fought a very hard battle, but in the end, his fight was lost. There were many relationships he deeply wanted to mend but will never have the opportunity to repair. Adam would not want to be remembered for his disease, but rather for the kind, loving, and generous person he was before it took hold. His family hopes that sharing this part of his story may remind others that addiction and mental illness affect people from all walks of life and that no one should face these struggles alone.

Adam will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Whether he was casting a fishing line, sharing a meal, treating neighborhood kids to a snack, or adding another pair of shoes to his collection, Adam brought joy to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday June 23, 2026, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison, WI 53704 with Pastor Brent Bickel presiding. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison.
