SUN PRAIRIE-Melissa Mae Bahr (Rogers) age 42 passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2018 at UW Hospital surrounded by family. She was born August 24th 1975 at St. Mary's in Madison to the late Frederick L. Rogers and Barbara E. Mattson. She was a graduate of Sun Prairie Senior High, class of 1993. Melissa went on to have three amazing children whom her world revolved around. As a child, she was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up and her answer was "a mom." Her purpose in life was always to be a mom, and she was the best at it. Her smiles and laughs were endless when they were around. Melissa had many hobbies, but some of her favorites were crafting, interior design, and gardening. Her creativity was endless. Melissa had a special tradition that she looked forward to all year long which was "Family Fondue Night" on New Year's Eve with her kids.
In addition to her three children: Austin, Tyler, and Sienna Bahr; she is survived by her mother Barbara Mattson; step-father Chris Mattson; her sister Amanda (Jason) Holz (nephews Bentley and Bode Holz); her maternal grandmother Lorraine Stieve; paternal step-grandmother Mary Mattson; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Melissa is further survived by many other extended family members: Rodney and Kay Bahr, Brent and Tabitha Bahr (nephews Jackson and Tanner Bahr), Aaron and Jodell Jenkins (niece Jada and nephew Jacob Jenkins). She also had so many special friends in her life that she loved like family.
She is preceded in death by her father Frederick L. Rogers and many other members of her family.
Melissa had a passion for spreading the awareness for Colon Cancer that got her very involved with the Fight-CRC Colon Rectal Cancer Coalition. Finding a cure kept her dedication until the very end.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at UW Hospital for their incredible care for Melissa and a very special thank you to Dr. Sam Lubner for your continuous care and sense of humor that she appreciated and got her through some very hard days. Thank you for sharing your words and part of your heart on what she meant to you when she was leaving us to be with Jesus and her dad in heaven.
