Tomahawk/ Westport: David Richard Ziegler , age 74, Died on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at Howard Young Hospital in Woodruff, WI. He was born on the family farm on Jan. 28, 1944 to Roman and Alice Ziegler. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1962 and married Ruth Roedsens on Sept. 26, 1963. Dave and Ruth raised their three children on the family farm where they resided until 2010. They moved to Tomahawk to relax, fish, garden and snowmobile. Dave put his heart into everything he did. He was always willing to help out neighbors and friends. He will be most remembered for his honesty, joyful humor, work ethic and his love of family. He was a farmer who loved to grow things and was happy to share the fruits of his labor with others. He took pride in being able to help others at harvest time and when he moved up north in plowing snow and clearing trees after the storms if need be. His happiest times were when he was working and being with family.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; daughters, Brenda (Lance) Hackbart and Dawn; daughter-in-law, Karen; sisters, Linda (Fred) Meinholz and Rosemary Meffert; and brothers-in-law, LeRoy Wipperfurth and Jim (Shelly) Roedsens. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jennifer and Daniel (Rebekah) Hellenbrand, Samantha, Raechel, Dalton, Dustin, and Damian Ziegler; 5 great-grandchildren with another due in April; and many more family and friends, especially Jim and Charlie, his oldest and newest friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Chris, that he is now reunited with; and his sister, Margaret Wipperfurth.
