MADISON - Frieda A (Krueger) Polich, age 97, passed away on Wed Dec 20, 2017 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Frieda was born on Oct 4, 1920 in Carlsville. She was the daughter of Edmund and Lily Krueger. In 1938 she graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School. Frieda graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching and a minor in Speech Correction and Social Economics. Sept 18, 1944 Frieda married John J Polich in Miami, FL.
She thoroughly enjoyed flowers. Thousands of appreciative fans admired her extensive gardens. As a Door County native, she had many fond memories of her childhood and heritage. Growing up on a farm and owning a cherry orchard gave her great pride and satisfaction. She met her loving husband at a dance, and they shared over 50 years together.
She is survived by her sons John (Mary) Polich of Chicago, IL, David (Kristine Kappel) Polich of Fitchburg, daughter Patricia Ann Polich of Oregon; 7 grandchildren Sarah, Beth, Erin, and Nicole Polich, Katie Banik, Michael and Eric Polich; 1 great grandchild Claire Banik; 2 sisters Yvonne (Krueger Simon, and Jeanette (Krueger) Gendron, brother Karl Krueger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John J. Polich, a son James, a grandson Joshua, a brother Lee Krueger.
A funeral will be held at 11:30 AM on Sat Dec 23, 2017 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road with Fr. Brian Wilk presiding. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of the service on Sat at the funeral home. Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday Dec 28, 2017 at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay.
