Halzel, Mildred "Millie" Mary

(September 10th, 1924 - June 21st, 2009)

Stoughton- Mildred Mary "Millie" Halzel, age 84 passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009. Millie was born September 10, 1924 in Madison, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kupfer) Martinas. She was united in marriage to John Halzel in Madison on November 17, 1945. Millie was a longtime resident of Madison until moving to Lake Kengonsa in 1960 and Stoughton in 1994. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the VFW Post 328, and the Madison Eagles Club 623. Millie enjoyed crocheting and reading, and was a big sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers.   Millie is survived by her three children: Diana (Howard) Hill, David (Gerri) Halzel, and Dawn (Dennis) Berry all of Stoughton; 8 grandchildren, Mike (Ann) Strand, Heidi (Tom) Davis, Angela Ritter, Becky (Jeff) Hennen, Joe Halzel, Jason, Christopher and Tyler Berry; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and her special friend since high school, Gloria Murray.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Jeff Strand; brother, Harry; and sisters, Ann, Dorothy, Elizabeth, and Katherine.   Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, June, 25, 2009 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren, Stoughton with Monsignor Gerard Healy presiding. Family will receive friends after 10 am until the time of service. Burial will be at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Stoughton.
